The Yarra River frontage in Warburton is one of the few locations in Victoria where you can get up close and spot platypus. We’ve not yet seen one of the elusive creatures ourselves, but have heard from guests that they have been seen.
The best time to spot a platypus is at dusk or dawn when they will leave their homely comfort in search of shrimp or other small invertabrates. For most of us, a ripple below the surface might be the most seen, but for a few lucky (and patient and quiet) spotters, they may gleam the platypus as it glides through the water.
If you spot a platypus, be sure to let us know so we can pass on the news to other campers.
