
In the southern reaches of the Victorian Alps, part of the famous Great Dividing Range, Mt Donna Buang is found, about 20 minutes scenic drive from Warburton. With an elevation of 1,250 metres it makes for many adventures including beautiful bush walks, hiking, cycling and scenic drives.
At the summit there lies the 21 metre Mount Donna Buang Lookout Tower capturing breathtaking panoramic views and photo opportunities over Melbourne, the Yarra, Mount Donna Buang Valley, Dandenong and Cathedral Ranges, Mount Baw Baw and the Alps.
The ascent of Mt. Donna Buang begins at the corner of the Warburton Highway (B380) and Donna Buang Road (C505). It makes for a medium/hard hike of 15.5kms, taking around 6.5 hours. It creates a challenging ride for cyclists, 17.8km in length on the ground or a 1,077m vertical ascent.
In winter the summit area of Mount Donna Buang turns to snow play. Three toboggan runs open when there is adequate snow on the mountain. Also Lake Mountain is only about 50 minutes drive away for cross country ski runs.
