The O’Shannassy Aqueduct, was built in 1914 to deliver Melbourne’s metro area with water until it was decommissioned in 1996.  The disused access track has now become a wonderful cycling and bush walking experience through enchanting forests, with wonderful glimpses down into the Yarra valley.

For family outings, you’re best to park at the northern end of Yuonga Rd, Warburton and enjoy a flat 7km walk or ride adjacent to the aqueduct.

The more challenging aqueduct trail extends 30kms from Parrot Road near Woori Yallock to the old O’Shannassy Weir in East Warburton. Here you’ll encounter some steeper slopes, which are highly enjoyable for mountain-biking and hiking.  There are several different trail options for 1 or 2 day rides.  See the following links for various rides:
